Close to the road between Nettlebed and Highmoor you can find what looks like a miniature castle - we used to drive past it every week on the way to the children's swimming lessons, but never stopped to have a proper look...
Apparently it was built to remember the American soldiers (343 Engineers) who were stationed there in 1942, before they left for France. I have read that there were about 2000 soldiers stationed there, but as far as I know there is no trace of any buildings. If anyone has any more information, please share it!
