Túto štvrť dediny už oddávna domáci volajú Argentína. Dokonca aj jedna z ulíc tejto štvrte sa volá Argentínska.
Koncom 19. a začiatkom 20. storočia približne 30 tisíc ľudí zo Slovenska odišlo do Argentíny za prácou, nakoľko táto krajina mala veľmi priaznivé imigračné zákony.
Medzi vysťahovalcami bola aj početná skupina rodákov z Šoporne. Niektorí naši rodáci tam zomreli, iní asimilovali a časť sa vrátila domov. Ale takmer všetci posielali zarobené peniaze domov, z čoho ich rodiny kupovali pozemky a stavali domy najmä v tejto štvrti.
Na pamiatku "našich Argentínčanov" upravili torzo starého orecha na pamätný stĺp pozorní spoluobčania.

This district villages have long been calling Argentina. Even one of the streets of this district is called the "Argentínska".
At the end of the 19th and early 20th century, about 30k people from Slovakia went to Argentina to work, since this country had very favorable immigration laws.
Among the emigrants was also a large group of natives from Šoporňa. Some of our countrymen died there, others have assimilated and part returned home. But almost all sending earned money home, from which their families bought land and built houses in this particular area.
