Geocache Description:

Whenever I order salmon in a restaurant, I always ask the server, "Atlantic" or "Pacific"? You can ask the same question of this micro. If a drop of water lands in the area of the cache--where will it go?

This microcache, situated on the Continental Divide above Loveland Pass and on an easy trail, affords excellent views of the mountains in the area. It is situated at an elevation of 3,787 meters and and is about1.5 km from the pass. Park at Loveland Pass and take the trail west of the road to the first rock shelter on a small bump on the trail. Cache is nearby. (Look at the hint and the spoiler photos).

As this is a high country hike, remember to wear sturdy shoes, bring adequate clothing (including rain gear), carry enough water, and watch the weather. Thunderstorms occur on many afternoons, particularly in the summer months. Also watch for signs of altitude sickness--especially if you are a visitor to Colorado--take it slow if you are not accustomed to the altitude and enjoy the views and the many wildflowers when they are available.

Because the point of this cache is to bring cachers to a lovely spot and to take a hike--if there is too much snow to find the container or if it has dropped into the rocks too far to find, or any other disaster that can occur to a small cache in the mountains--just take a photo of your gps at the cache site, and if you wish, yourself, and you will have earned your smiley.
