Polaroid Spirit Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Balayang: I am regretfully archiving this cache since unfortunately there has been no action to restore it, or any communication from the cache owner, shayne'o, requesting additional time.

An ample opportunity has been provided for the Cache Owner to respond, but since this opportunity has been ignored, I can only conclude that the cache has been abandoned.

Caches archived under these circumstances are unable to be Unarchived, and this location is now available for the placement of a new cache, by somebody else.

Geocache Description:

This is a short deviation off the freeway but worth the effort, as there are at least four of my caches in the area and three others that are not mine. This makes for a quick smiley tally for some short work! You will find the cache is unique and may even bring back memories for some! Parking can be found at S 32 29.226 E 115 47.695

This spot is one of my favorites as it is a well kept secret unless you are a local. This spot is great for launching a kayak, bird watching, photography, spotting kangaroos and other wildlife, sitting around a fire with mates enjoing a sunset or just sitting and enjoying the tranquility by yourself. Oh yeah...there is also a cache to be found.

Polaroid Spirit 600 Land Camera

Land had been uneasy about that, sensing that a lot of cheap cameras would

devalue Polaroid photography, but McCune powered ahead. ... were marketed

under names as varied as the Button, the Spirit, the 1000, the Sun Camera, and

(especially) the OneStep. First using SXâ€"70 film, then its successor Timeâ€"Zero,

and ultimately the 600 â€"speed film that would supersede both, the Pronto! and

its ...

"Pictures in a minute!" In the 1950s, '60s, and

'70s, Polaroid was the hottest technology company on Earth. They were an

innovation machine that cranked out one irresistible product after another. It

was even the company after which Steve Jobs is said to have modeled Apple, and

the comparison is true. Jobs's hero, Edwin Land, Polaroid's visionary founder,

turned his 1937 garage startup into a billion-dollar pop-culture phenomenon.

Instant: The Story of Polaroid, a richly illustrated, behind-the-scenes look at

the company, tells the tale of Land's extraordinary and beloved invention. From

the introduction of Polaroid's first instant camera in 1948 to its meteoric rise

and dramatic collapse into bankruptcy in the 2000s, Instant is both a cautionary

tale about tech companies that lose their edge and a remarkable story of

American ingenuity.

The Polaroid brand has dedicated the past 75 years to capturing memories, inspiring collaboration and pushing the boundaries of photography and technology. Throughout the years, Polaroid has grown into a household name that is synonymous with sharing, quality, and a touch of magic. Polaroid covers a full spectrum of products, from cameras and tablets to TVs and more, always dedicated to providing consumers exceptional value and instant fun.

The Man Behind the Camera

Edwin Land. From an early age, Land’s fascination with light led him to develop one of the first synthetic polarizers for commercial use in 1929. Shortly thereafter he was inspired by his 3-year-old daughter’s confusion as to why a camera could not instantly produce pictures after they were taken – thus pioneering instant photography. He went on to be the founder of the Polaroid Corporation in 1937 and is best known for developing the world’s first Instant camera, called the Polaroid Land camera.

The cache only has room for a log and pencil only.

To open, you should see a small arrow to the left of the yellow geocaching symbol. Slide this arrow toward the symbol and the cover should open. When you replace the log, please push all the way in with the spirals facing down and gently close. This just seems to work best and I can't easily replace this cache if it is broken

Please put back as you found it. Happy caching!
