No dia 29 de Agosto de 2013, um grupo de geocacher's amigos fez uma caminhada entre a Portela e a Levada Nova Machico/Caniçal.
Com este passeio juntava-se o útil ao agradável, pois além das belas paisagens e do verde da floresta, existiam ao longo do percurso muitas"caixinhas" por visitar! Sim, porque hoje em dia nenhum de nós olha para um mapa só por olhar! Olha-se, planeia-se a viagem e já agora (só por "mera curiosidade"...) verifica-se se existe por lá alguma cache. Quem diz que isto é mentira que "atire a 1ª pedra"!!
Esta cache foi colocada precisamente para relembrar esta caminhada entre a Portela e a Levada Nova, passando pelas Funduras e pela Boca do Risco. Ao passarmos na GZ olhamos em volta e ficamos deliciados com a grandeza da paisagem circundante. A tal ponto de um dos geocacher's afirmar "Sinto-me pequenino!!". Estava escolhido o local e o nome a dar a esta cache.
Para chegar à GZ podem optar por vários percursos. Se quiserem fazer como nós, iniciam a jornada na Portela, vão em direcção às Funduras e depois descem para a Boca do Risco. Depois é só descer o trilho e virar à esquerda no cruzamento que irão encontrar algumas dezenas de metros abaixo.
Podem também optar por iniciar a caminhada pelo Porto da Cruz, mais precisamente no Larano (podendo visitar a cache "The Dragon's Tail" pelo caminho), indo ter também à Boca do Risco.
Outras duas opções serão percorrer a Levada Nova, começando nos Maroços ou no túnel antigo do Caniçal, subindo depois a vereda que vai em direcção à Boca do Risco.

GUARDIÃ DA CACHE
On August 29th, a group of friends geocacher's made a walk between Portela and Levada Nova Machico / Caniçal.
With this tour we joined the beautiful landscapes and green forest of this area, with the visit to the geocaches existing along the way! Yes, because nowadays, none of us look at a map just by looking! We look up, we plan the journey and we check (only by "curiosity" ...) whether there exists (or not) any cache. Who says this is a lie can "throw the first stone"!...
This geocache was placed precisely to remember this walk between Portela and Levada Nova, passing through Funduras and Boca do Risco. As we passed the GZ we look around and we were delighted with the grandeur of the surrounding landscape. So much, that one of the geocacher's said "I feel so small!". The location and name to give at this cache was chosen.
To reach the GZ you can choose one of various courses. If you want to do as we did, begin the journey in Portela, go towards Funduras and then go down to Boca do Risco. Then just go down the trail and turn left at the intersection that you will find a few dozens meters below.
You can also choose to start the hike at Porto de la Cruz, more precisely in Larano (you can visit the cache "The Dragon's Tail" on the way), also arriving at Boca do Risco.
Other two options are to start at the Levada Nova, starting in Maroços or at the ancient tunnel of Caniçal, with the final climb on the path that goes towards Boca do Risco.
