United College is one of the nine colleges composing the Chinese University of Hong Kong. It is one of the three original colleges when the university was found in 1963. The motto of United College is “Ming De Xin Min” (明德新民), meaning “make one’s virtues shine and renew the people”. It is modifying from a passage in the old classic The Great Learning (大學).
There are a number of landmarks in this college with the cascade and the water tower being the most famous ones. The student canteen is also “famous” among students.
In particular, there is a flame tree known as the tree of Dr. Joanna Tse (謝婉雯), an alumnus of United College. Dr. Tse sacrificed her life for the SARS patients under her care in 2003. With such a noble and selfless act, Dr. Tse is highly honoured by the society. The flame tree is dedicated to her and to commemorate her bravery and self-sacrifice. Dr. Tse is now buried in the Gallant Garden (浩園), a burial for both civil servants and non-civil servants who died in exceptional bravery while on duty.

The cache is a micro magnetic box hiding near the flame tree.
