Due to the freshwater creek, Kincumber was one of the earliest settlements on the Central Coast.
Kincumber was once home to a Monazite processing plant that processed mineral sands that were mined in the area. The plant operated on the edge of Kincumber Industrial Estate. The site "Lot 500" is now abandoned and still has higher than average levels of radiation. It has been deemed unsafe to developed.
