By the way, this site has a half-elliptical shape. Becausere it was racetrack here about 60 years from now. Half of the site of the racetrack became Teikoku Oil Akita mining office, and the other half became residential areas, etc. And now, the site of Teikoku Oil Akita mining office becomes Yabase shopping center.

秋田市民は高齢化と共に移動手段が自動車中心となり，広い駐車場を有したショッピングセンターが主な商業施設となってきました。ところで，ここの敷地は半楕円形をしています。それは今から６０年ほど前まで，ここが競馬場だったからです。競馬場跡地は半分が帝国石油秋田鉱業所となり，残り半分は住宅地などになりました。そして現在，帝国石油秋田鉱業所跡地が八橋ショッピングセンターとなりました。
