Excerpt from the Bridgeville Fire Department website:
"On December 14th, 1909, a meeting was held in the Opera House by the citizens of Bridgeville to organize a fire company.....

It was on October 11th & 12th, 1992 that the Company made its 1st participation in the Annual Apple Scrapple Festival. Seventeen dedicated years later and still vending Oyster Sandwich’s at the central holding grounds of this event, the Company’s contributions include the full use of the parking lot granted to the Apple Scrapple Committee for entertainment, vendors, seating accommodations for visitors, etc.; an Open House for demonstrators, Fire Prevention Awareness, and Public Health educational exhibits, etc., and 24-hour FIRE and EMS coverage dedicated to the Festival.

In the course of 100 Years, the growth of Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Company Inc. has left a trail of historical milestones that what makes them who they are today. The volunteers in this Company of the past and present bear an extraordinary commitment to their beloved community that goes unscathed and will continue to for future generations to come. We are humbled by the support we have received throughout the years and are proud to provide Fire and EMS services to those in need. In the 100 Years of our existence, this special occasion would not be especially possible without you; and for that, we sincerely Thank You.

You believe it is better to be “Number One,”

but we know it is best to be “Second to None”
