The current Buckhorn Dam is above the now-abandoned hydroelectric dam. The area is very popular for shore fishing so the litter has piled up over the years.
Join us on Saturday, October 5th from 9-11 a.m. to tidy up this lovely spot on the Cape Fear.
We'll have coffee, water, a few baked goods, trash bags, and the all-important bug spray. Bring along your own gloves and grabbers if you like. For those of you wanting to cache the many caches in the surrounding area, or drop a line in the water, bring along lunch and we'll brown-bag it in the shade after the event.
If you own a kayak, we could sure use some shoreline help from the water. Please be aware that the road to the creekside will not accomodate trailers, so if your yak doesn't ride on top, don't bring it. This road is also a gravel road so leave your sexy sportscar at home. Limited parking is available, so carpooling is strongly encouraged. To limit the number of cars in the area where we will be working, please park along the right side of the road above the creekside clearing.
This event is in Chatham County and has a couple of attributes that may be handy for those of you collecting.
