Shirl, August 1922-August 2013, was an amazing, faithful woman.
Her interests and abilities were abundant and varied. She was athletic and competitive, over the years participating in numerous sporting activities. She was a pitcher in corporate women’s softball, pitched horseshoes, played badminton and ping pong, bowled in leagues and even appeared on TV’s Bowling for Dollars. Golfing was another sport she enjoyed; some of her golfing partners included 3 other women from church, the four of whom became affectionately known as “The Fearsome Foursome”. She was around 80 years old when she learned to shoot pool at the retirement home and won the community’s pool tournament in 2005. She also loved to watch sports on TV (sometimes through her eyelids) and was a big fan of the UConn girls’ basketball team.
Shirl had excellent office skills, being a first copy typist before correction tape, word processors, and computers. She never stopped learning and even learned to communicate via email.
Shirl was the mother of 5, grandmother of 11, and great-grandmother of 15 (so far). She was and is still much loved and will be missed.
This cache and the SWAG are designed to commemorate some of her favorite things:
MUSIC – She made her own record of Gospel music and gave a concert for her 70thbirthday.
COFFEE – She drank the unleaded version any time of the day or night.
ICE CREAM – She was always up for a dish or a cone.
FLOWERS – She loved flowers on trees, bushes, or plants, in the ground, potted, or in cut arrangements.

Thus the cache is appropriately a coffee container and the SWAG includes music note stickers, golf balls, and a Ice Cream Gift Card for the FTF.
