PLEASE NOTE: YOU WILL NEED A TOOL TO RETRIEVE THIS CACHE. Plenty around. This cache has been placed close to one of the entrances to this wonderful wood, though potentially it could be a park & grab, I wouldn’t recommend it as this would mean parking on the road side restricting passing traffic. I have included parking coordinates which include the car park close to the Shannon estuary ferry port and also in the town of Tarbert at the beginning of a looped walk through these woods which I would recommend. From the town it is a little over 1km to the cache and you will be walking through well maintained woodland paths, consisting of stone chippings and compacted stone/soil, it is easy under foot though may not be suitable for buggies, also the narrow entrances to the woods also restrict the use of buggies, but if you were to park at the secondary parking location it is mainly a walk along road, but again access to the woods is very narrow.
If you park at the primary parking location you will see signage for the looped walk and various routes through the woods.
Point of interest as well is the Tarbert Bridewell Courthouse & Jail built in 1831 which if you choose to park at the primary parking location you will see just across from the parking area.
I also note that at various locations along the walk there are information points in the form of 3D bar codes, if you have a free app on your smart phone you can access the information at these points.
The cache itself is a nacro (between nano & micro) cache container. You will need a tool to retrieve this cache, but being in a wood there should be no problem finding one, as there should be plenty lying on the ground, please do not break any branches off trees to obtain this “tool”. Be careful to hold onto the top of the container while filling in the log book, for reasons which should become self evident.
