Amy Gillett was a dedicated sportswoman. She competed for Australia in rowing, before changing sports and started riding. Sadly Amy was killed while in Germany on a training ride.
I'm sure everyone will have a fond memory of attending the Oakbank Easter Racing Carnival at least once in their lifetime. If you haven't you should. It is just down the road. It is run by the Oakbank Racing Club which has been around since 1876 and located just 5 minutes from this cache and 25 minutes from the CBD in "blue grass" Racing country. The historic club races just four times annually with the pinnacle event being the Oakbank Easter Racing Carnival which is a fantastic festival for all. Plenty of side shows for 5 year olds of all ages. The Oakbank Racing Club has held the iconic Easter Racing Carnival since 1876, attracting more than 100,000 visitors annually and qualifying as the world's biggest picnic race meeting. Oakbank Racecourse is home to jumps racing in South Australia, which combines with flat racing to make two days of thrilling racing over Easter each year. In fact it is the only race meeting I have attended.
