Geocache Description:

You will have to work out the coordinates for the cache from the plaque that was once at the listed coordinates.  A time capsule was buried here and was opened on May 11th 2014, 50 years after its burial.

Cache is at N 35° 10.XXX'  W 080° 50.YYY'

This cache was in operation for months before the opening and you had to visit the plaque to solve for the coordinates. Now that the plaque has been removed the image is here for your inspection. You might want to visit the theater anyway to get one more number. But then again you probably can find that number anyway.

I was in the Charlotte area in 1964 when the Park Terrace Theater opened. It was a huge sensation adding to the amenities of the Park Road Shopping Center which had opened in 1956 as the first open-air shopping center in Charlotte. The theater was known as the "Rocking Chair Theater" for its “startling concept in theatre comfort, and attractiveness where you will experience a new world of motion picture enjoyment.” The theater had a large glass-enclosed lobby and “air-flo rocking chairs”. For 1964 it was revolutionary, and Charlotte loved it.

The 1,000 seat, Park Terrace Theater opened on May 28, 1964. The grand opening ceremonies included a fireworks display, music by the Charlotte College Choir, and speeches by the Mayor Pro Tem, President of the Chamber of Commerce, and a local radio personality named Ty Boyd. At 9:10 p.m. the first movie, "Captain Newman" with Gregory Peck and Tony Curtis ran. Coming attractions included “Flipper’s New Adventure”, “What a Way to Go” with Shirley McLain, and “Good Neighbor Sam” with Jack Lemmon.

First to Find goes to orionisland and gypc. gypc was the one to find the actual container first and place his name on the log, but orionisland could have had his name first had it not been for an error on the CO's part.
