Moyenne Island Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

The smeagols: Looks like a cleaning mission...
Unfortunately, that's the end and we have to archive our first cache, but we had three years of great logs and souvenirs of the Seychelles!
Thanks everyone!

Geocache Description:

Within the Sainte Anne Marine National Park, Moyenne Island is quite unique. It used to belong to Brendon Grimshaw, a British newspaper editor, who went to great lengths to protect the island. Thanks to him, the island, home to about 120 tortoises, is now a National Park within the Marine National Park where no hotels are to be built. Since his death in 2012, the isle belongs to the Moyenne Island Foundation.

There is an interesting BBC documentary by Simon Reeves, 2012:

Moyenne Island, Sainte Anne Marine National Park

The cache will lead you to the 'Twelve Island Viewing Rocks' next to the 'Pirate Cove'. We wanted to share this beautiful spot with you, so enjoy the unspoiled view and imagine the pirates landing here in the 17th and 18th century…

You can only get to the isle by boat and the landing fee is 10 Euros/ 12 Dollars. The National Park is only open between 10 am and 4 pm. A good landing point is the so-called 'Sandspit' (see photo below) in the South-West of the isle. As this sand bank changes its position with the wind direction, we cannot give you any coordinates, but it is easy to find on such a small island…

It is especially important to leave the cache in a good condition because taking care of it is difficult.Thank you very much!
