Cache is located on the Na Ala Hele: Kuli'ou'ou Ridge Trail. This is the second installment of the "Out on a Limb Series". I have been having to do a lot of tree climbing lately, so I decided to start a series to share the love :-) This is just a small, and hopefully quick, grab on your way to bigger prizes higher on the trail. Cache is off the main trail but you will still be visible from others going up and down so please use some stealth.
The cache is located in the Kuli'ou'ou Forest Reserve on a very popular hiking trail. The cache is just less than two miles on the trail, which will gain altitude very quickly. If you stay on the main trail, the switchbacks are less demanding than trying to take alternate smaller trails. There are several ropes to assist your climb. There are several caches on the trail with some very challenging terrain on the higher ones, but it is well worth the climb. The views at the trail end, over 2000+ elevation, are breathtaking. You will be one of the few that get to experience this view if you make it to the top. [Are you reading all of this? Cache is in plain sight :-)] Because there are several caches along this valley, you can either go up the east side and get this cache on the way up, or go up the west side and grab it on the way down. You can also just stay on the east trail and save the west for another day if you are under time constraints.
