Putaanvirta on kaunis vesistö keskellä Valkeakoskea. Kätkön kohdalla etelärannalla on kaunis vanha puutalo, talo josta kätkön tekijä unelmoi, omakotitalo kaupungin keskustassa järven rannalla ja oma laiva laiturissa.... Osin tuosta johtuen piti tämäkin paikka kätköttää ;) Eli urbaani vesistökätkö, olkaa hyvä!

Puiset pollarit, joita myös jossain päin maata uittoukoiksi kutsutaan, ovat pohjaan juntattuja tukkiryppäitä. Niitä on myös Putaanvirrassa muistona menneiltä ajoilta jolloin Tervasaaren paperitehtaalle tuotiin puuta vesiteitse. Tukkilautat sidottiin odottamaan vuoroansa näihin pollareihin. Nyt ne ovat virattomia, toimivat lähinnä vain lokkien ja tiirojen levähdyspaikkoina. Mutta tästä eteenpäin yksi pollareista toimii myös geokätkön piilotuspaikkana.

Kätkö on haettavissa veneellä yleensä myös leutoina talvina, sillä virta jäätyy vain kovemmilla pakkasilla tai joskus vähäisen juoksutuksen aikana. Jäälle meno alueella on hengenvaarallista.

Apian leirintäalueelta voi halutessaan vuokrata kanootin tai veneen. Uimalla kätkölle ei pääse... Ja ota kaveri mukaan, se helpottaa kätkön käsiin saamista.

HUOM! Kätkössä EI ole kynää, ota mukaan oma kynä. Varo myös pudottamasta purkkia tai sen kiinnikettä!

Geocache Description in English:

Putaanvirta stream is a beautiful water area in the middle of Valkeakoski. Near the cache, in the southern waterfront, there is my dream house, a house in the middle of the town, in a lake shore and a ship in own pier... Partly because of this I had to place a cache here :)

Wooden bollards in the stream of Putaanvirta are from the time when huge amount of logs were transferred from forests to papermill of Tervasaari via waterways. Log rafts were parked in the stream and strapped to bollards. Now they are almost useless, just offering resting spots for gulls and terns. But from now on, one of them is also a hiding place for a geocache.
You can search the cache also during mild winter by boat, but do NOT ever go to ice, as the stream makes the ice life-threatening thin.

From Apian Camping you may rent a canoe or boat, contact details in waypoints. Do not try to swim to cache... And take a friend with you, it makes it easier to grab the cache in your hands.

NOTE! There is NO pen in the cache, so take your own with you. Be also careful not to drop the container or it's fastener.
