I was exploring some local greenspaces and found this little spot. The Hunt River Preserve, owned and maintained by the East Greenwich Land Trust, is a small parcel that offers a pleasant walk on some uplands that are surrounded by the floodplain of the Hunt River. The trail ends at a great put-in spot if you want to paddle on the Hunt River. If you do explore the river, please be careful, as I noticed some poison sumac growing along the shore near the launch site.
The preserve can be a little tough to spot. There is a small sign for the preserve along Rt. 2 North (just south of the highway on-ramp) that will lead you down a quiet side street. At the end of the road you'll see a gravel parking lot for 2 cars at the end of the road (this is the included parking waypoint). The gate to the property has an out-of-date "No "Trespassing" sign. Please ignore the sign, as this cache was placed with the approval and encouragement from the EG Land Trust. Follow, the trail, cross the powerlines, and continue down the trail to the cache. Because the parking area is near some houses, please be respectful and keep your search to daylight hours.
Congrats to Ma & Papa on FTF!
