The GL series is made up of ten geocaches that will take you on a tour of the Goodrich-Loomis Conservation Area.  Please do not go too far off of the trails because all caches are generally located no more than one metre from the trail. Please stay on marked trails as you travel from cache to cache.

**Be aware as there is poison ivy throughout the trails.**

Prairie has been identified as a rare habitat in Ontario. Prairie and savannah vegetations existed discontinuously throughout most of southern Ontario at the time of the early explorers.  A large prairie, north of Lake Ontario, called the “Rice Lake Plains” was well documented by pioneer botanists Cartharine Parr Traill and John Macoun as well as by the early surveyors and travellers.  Today, native vegetation of dry openings, including prairies, is of great interest as they contain relatively large numbers of regionally, provincially and nationally rare species.  This type of vegetation has been largely destroyed in Ontario and elsewhere in North America, making the relics additionally important in terms of protection of representative examples of major natural ecosystems.

Lower Trent Conservation is a community-based environmental agency that protects, restores and manages the natural resources within its watershed.

They work with local communities to create a healthy, environmentally diverse watershed that improves the quality of life for residents, makes our area more appealing to visitors and new business, and helps to ensure a more vibrant regional economy
