Geocache Description:

This cache has been placed for the Lower Trent Conservation event and cannot be found until Saturday, October 5, 2013 after 9am.

The GL series is made up of ten geocaches that will take you on a tour of the Goodrich-Loomis Conservation Area.  Please do not go too far off of the trails because all caches are generally located no more than one metre from the trail. Please stay on marked trails as you travel from cache to cache.

**Be aware as there is poison ivy throughout the trails**

Lower Trent Conservation is currently working to restore three significant savannah/prairie sites in the lower Trent watershed region , here on the North View trail and also in the Trenton Greenbelt and Seymour Conservation Areas.

In 2009, Lower Trent Conservation began working to restore this provincially significant habitat in the North View trail portion of the Conservation Area including the planting of prairie grasses and wildflowers and a prescribed burn.  Fire plays an important role in the natural process of a prairie ecosystem, as it stimulates native grasses and wildflowers while suppressing invasive non-native plants. The objective is to eliminate the current overgrowth of exotic turf grass and encourage the vegetation typical of prairie habitat.

Lower Trent Conservation is a community-based environmental agency that protects, restores and manages the natural resources within its watershed.

They work with local communities to create a healthy, environmentally diverse watershed that improves the quality of life for residents, makes our area more appealing to visitors and new business, and helps to ensure a more vibrant regional economy.
