The beehive tombs of Halban date back to Umm al Nar or Hafit period of the broze age, between 2700 - 2000BC, as old as the oldest pyramids of Egypt, however have only recently been discovered, with some texts suggesting as little as 30 years ago.
The tombs were the chambers for one or two bodies and often used by one family over a period of time. In some places, remains of upto a hundred bodies have been found in similar tombs.
