This tral of caches takes you along a section of the Old Stuart Highway - the original alignment built in World War Two to speed supplies to frontline Australia north of the 13th parallel
Mrs Alice Todd was the wife of the Superintendent of Telegraphs, Sir Charles Todd. The Alice Springs Telegraph Station was built on the banks of the Todd River adjacent to a water hole that was named after Mrs Todd; Alice Springs. Due to confusion between the town of Stuart (current day Alice Springs) and the name of the water hole adjacent to the telegraph station, administrators in Adelaide changed the name of the town of Stuart to Alice Springs. This occured on the 31st of August 1933.
