U moet aan de kapel stoppen, u mag uw wagen daar laten want voor dat u de wegen door gaat en steels naar het kasteel te kijken moet u eerst, om de « cache » te vinden, het jaar van het bouwen van de kapel te vinden = 1A1B

Het kasteel van Assenois is rond een binnenplaats gebouwd, daardoor lijkt het aan een middeleeuwste vesting. Melding wordt gemaakt van het kasteel van Assenois sinds 18de eeuw maar het is gewoon door het aankoop door Fernand van den Corput, gouverneur van Luxembourg, dat het kasteel grooter wordt gemaakt. Mevrouw van den Corput vindt dat het kasteel te klein was en heeft in 1913 een grotere gebouw, door architekt Flanneau laten maken (De werken werden onderbreken tijdens de tweede wereld oorlog en terug gepakt in 1919. Het is alleen een jaar later dat het kasteel werdt bewoond).

The castle of Assenois is built around a main courtyard, which gives it a certain degree of similarity with a medieval fortress. The presence of a castle in Assenois can be noted from the 18th century onwards. However it is only after its purchase by Fernand van den Corput, then governor of Luxembourg, that the castle was extended. In fact, Van den Corput’s wife found that the castle was too small and therefore in 1913, she summoned the Belgian architect Octave Flanneau and at her request, he started a much more imposing construction. (It must be noted that all the activities had to be suspended during the First World War and started again in 1919 though it is only one year later that the castle was finally occupied). At the time, stones were brought by train to the station of Lavaux and then they were transported aboard a cart to the castle. (N.B.: a cart is a kind of wheelbarrow which can be toppled over in order to empty its load).
