Geocache Description:

Church Micro IE #59 – Cregagh Presbyterian Church

The current church building was constructed in 1928 to house the congregation started in 1903 by Rev. Dr. David Stewart. It was refurbished in 1963 and in 2008 the congregation voted for a further refurbishment. With the collapse of the Presbyterian Mutual Fund the decision was taken in 2013 to demolish the existing building and replace it with a new build, this has provoked the grandson of the founding minister to start a petition to have the church designated as a listing building, more background information on this can be found here.

At the time of placing the petition had 992 signees, I've no idea how many it would take to make a difference so come and see it while you can!

The Church Micro IE series is open to everyone; if you have a church you would like to place a cache at then please contact THE_Chris through Geocaching.com. This is to keep track of the numbers of the churches and give you the general format for the cache page. In the UK there are ~3500 caches in the series so we have some catching up to do! Also, if you currently have a published cache at a church that you would like to include in the series, get in contact and we can add it.

The cache

The cache is a black magnetic nano. Logs in these containers are notoriously tricky to extract so use of tweezers is recommended. The Cregagh Road can be quite busy at times, hence the choice of location. On-street parking is available, just be wary of urban clearway times. No sign = no find.

CONGRATULATIONS TO RURALRAMBLER FOR THE FIRST TO FIND!
