Geocache Description:

This is a 200ml clip top box & contains a few swap items. Another clue to the final cache here.

This is part of a series consisting of 15 caches in total including the final Bonus Cache! (You'll have to pick up clues for this along the way!). We've called it Over The Tops as that is what we call it when we take the scenic route to Chipping or Clitheroe! It is a circular walk of about 5.5 miles just on the outskirts of Longridge which has some really stunning views. All the caches are located close to the roadside & you do not need to enter any fields. The walk is all on the road, most of which are 'Quiet Lanes' so not very busy, however care must be taken (especially if you have young children with you) as there are no footpaths so please be aware of any vehicles that do approach. As the walk is all on the road this series should be easily accessible all year round as there is no wading through muddy fields however some of the verges where the caches are hidden may become soft & muddy after rainfall so you still might want to put your boots or wellies on! If it's early autumn you may want to take a container to collect some brambles, there's lots round here!

You will start close to the entrance of a Caravan Park & continue up Higher Road until you reach a crossroads & a pub, here you will turn left & go straight on until you reach a junction just passed a big layby where there is a fantastic view over the Vale of Chipping, turn left again & carry on along Forty Acre Lane, passed the Golf Club & back towards Longridge. Do take a few moments here & there to take in the views, as you stop to take a drink or have a little rest, you will not be disappointed! On a clear day you will be rewarded with views over the Vale of Chipping to the Bowland Fells (including Beacon Fell, Parlick, Fairsnape & Wolf Fell), the Fylde Coast (see if you can spot Blackpool Tower!), out towards Clitheroe, Pendle Hill, Whalley, Preston, WInter Hill & BAe Samlesbury to name but a few!

Parking is available in the centre of Longridge or you may be able to park on the roadside, a little closer to the walk, just passed a restaurant near some white railings (N53 50.095 W002 35.501).
You can increase your stash of cache finds on this walk by visiting the traditional cache 'Reservoir of Caches - Lodge View' - Code: GC1EEN7 (by Hikeforce) & the earth cache 'Invisible River' - Code: GC1FMWN (by PopUpPirate) which are on this route & if you have parked in the centre of Longridge to do this walk look out for 2 of our other caches 'Take The High Road'- Code: GC4JQK0 & 'Bowled Over' - Code: GC4JQXQ which lead you into the centre of the village & the main shopping street Berry Lane. If you have time why not take a stroll down the main street, Berry Lane, & have a look at the fabulous variety of shops, eating establishments & businesses Longridge has to offer.

This is our first series of caches & we hope you enjoy it.
