Having recently moved out to Lawn Guy Land from NYC due to family obligations, I'm finding the transition more difficult than I had originally anticipated. On the one hand, and on a positive note, I started geocaching as a way to refamiliarize myself with my surroundings. It's also given me the opportunity to get out and breath some fresh air and eventually (and hopefully) meet some new folks.
On the other hand, there are some things about city life that I dearly miss. Things like lazily sipping amazing coffee with the Sunday Times under my nose. In my former neighborhood there were no fewer than seven, count'em seven, top notch award winning coffee shops all within a few blocks. Most of the places knew me by name and more often than not had the second pass through of espresso already dripping as they saw me coming.
Now, I don't want to sound like a snob because when it comes to coffee, I'm not. I'll happily drink the oldest most burnt tasting gas station swill if that's all to be had. But MAN oh MAN do I miss good coffee. I haven't had any since being out here. Nor have I managed to find an independently owned shop that takes pride in how their espresso is ground and pulled.
Instead, I've had to visit the chains. Places that can be found in every corner of world. Places with the instantly recognizable logos. Places that have spent more money on marketing and branding than on things like good beans and properly trained baristas. Geez, bitter much? LOL.
The cache... you're looking for a small container about half the size of a key holder. It holds a log only. The cache is located in a parking lot that's busy all day until 10 or so at night. Parking can be tight at times and if that happens to be the case when you visit, there's another lot just east of here on Jericho TPKE. Like all my caches, this one is available 24-7. Like a few of them, ninja skills are required. Good luck and happy hunting.
