The trail
This cache is one of a series of caches placed around Dumbreck Marsh local nature reserve. The area once showed the signs of the area's mining history, and was covered in bings and the lines of old mineral railways. Now, however, it is the site of grassland, ponds, and a nice trail which is perfect for a gentle walk or cycle.
There are various possible access points, but the easiest two are probably from Auchinstarry where there is plenty of available parking, or from Gavell Road where there is easy on-road parking.
Many thanks to North Lanarkshire Council's Greenspace Development department for granting permission for these caches to be placed.
The cache - Boardwalk
The name says it all, really - at this cache you'll find a nice boardwalk over part of the marsh and next to a pond where you'll often see plenty of ducks and swans. There's a beautifully carved bench here too, perfect to give your feet a rest if you've left this cache to the end of your walk!
Cache is a camouflaged small click-lock tub, please make sure to replace carefully. Please note the cache is accessible from the path and there is absolutely no need to step onto any dangerous boggy/marshy ground!
