The views from parts of the route are spectacular and if by bike or walking its definately worth doing. The tunnels are an amazing feat./strong>
Having rekindled my love of cycling-thanks to my son-I really enjoy riding this track (National Route 46) and viewing the awesome old railway line/tunnels and the quarry along the route. Passing high above the Clydach Gorge you follow the line of the Merthyr, Tredegar and Abergavenny railway. The views from parts of the route are spectacular and if by bike or walking its definately worth doing. The cache is a very small container with only the logand a small swap-you will need a pen! Please keep a close eye on geokids as some areas along the route have steep falls off the side of the path that only have wire fencing to stop you going over!!
The 8 mile Brynmawr to Abergavenny Cycle Route is one of the most spectacular Cycle Routes in the UK it follows the route of an incredibly engineered railway track that originally ran between Abergavenny and Swansea. On leaving Brynmawr it descends nearly 1000 ft in 8 miles, clinging to the side of the awesome Clydach Gorge , it descends steadily until it bursts out on a 3 mile embankment in the beautiful Usk Valley that takes it to The River Usk at Abergavenny. For tourists , children and low hour cyclists its absolutly brilliant you have an incredible decent through beautiful scenery that is a joy to cycle, A real tourist treat and a real boost to those just getting into cycling.
Thankyou to Gwyn Smith at Sustrans for allowing placement of the tunnel caches.
