A168-Old Great North Road#3 Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Dalesman: This cache has been in need of care and maintenance for some time and as the owner has not responded to my note I am archiving it.

Guidelines:**You are responsible for occasional visits to your cache to maintain proper working order, especially when someone reports a problem with the cache (missing, damaged, wet, etc.). You may temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to search for it until you have a chance to fix the problem. This feature is to allow you a reasonable amount of time - normally a few weeks - in which to check on your cache. If a cache is not being maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an unreasonable length of time, we may archive the listing.**

If you wish to contact me about this cache please use my Email address below my signature and quote the GC number of the cache. Please note this system is not infallible and I may miss any such mail.

Many thanks,

Geocache Description:

The caches vary in size from Nano through to Small, so it's advisable to take a pen/pencil along to sign the log.

This is the second in a series of caches that will follow the A168 from Wetherby and eventually end at Dishforth Airfield. All of the cahches have been placed at the side of the road where easy parking can be found near by, I wanted to make it as safe as possible for the young cachers out there to enjoy as well. Please take care when parking as the road can get very busy, and large trucks do park up for the night in some of the lay-bys.

It can either be completed by car, motor bike, or for the more energetic, bicycle.

I got the idea for this series of caches by one that had been set up a little further north, running along the A6055, which again is part of the old A1, called 'Service with a Smile'.

Having moved to Dishforth Airfield in 1990, as part of the Army, I have witnessed all the changes, road works, delays and frustrations that has gone along with making of the new A1.

I still enjoy driving along A168 every now and then, to break the monotony of motorway driving, and try to remember what it used to look like.
