This cache is part of a group of caches placed in the Spring Valley area with the intent to bring other catchers to our river town area to experience the many attractions we can offer. Spring Valley is located along the banks of the Illinois River with great fishing and boating opportunities. If cemeteries are your thing, we have 9, all interesting ones. Coal mining was a prosperous biz here in earlier yrs and we have a very nice museum depicting those days in history. Fine ding or simple fares? We have both. So plan to spend a day here and find many caches along the way.
Just a few miles east of here was one of the testing sites for interstate 80. I can remember going out with my parents and parking on an overpass while watching the semis go round n round testing the road for a possible interstate and road quality. This -as I remember- must have been late 50's or early 60's.
