Old Boat Corner is the junction between Coldean Lane and Ditchling Road and marks the south west corner of Stanmer Park
The name is said to derive from an upturned boat used as a shepherds hut.
There is also local speculation that a sheperds dog used to return here every day after his master had passed away on the corner, so the locals put a boat here to give the dog some shelter.
Either way this cache keeps the little used name of this junction alive
