Geocache Description:

This cache was originally placed by Crosswalkers, a very good friend of Jim Witty, and the coordinates were published in the Bend Bulletin in April, 2013. I was FTF on the cache using those coordinates, but the cache was never published due to its close proximity to another active cache. After cooresponding with Crosswalkers, I decided to relocate the cache for him and get it published. Happy Caching.

Jim Witty was a  reporter who wrote outings for The Bulletin for about ten years. Jim  was born on March 11, 1958 and left us unexpectedly on November 17, 2008 at the young age of 50 after suffering a massive heart attack. Jim was in the process of writing a book including many of the columns he had written for the paper when he passed away. His wife and soul mate, Lori and Mark Quon (Crosswalkers) completed it's publication after his passing. The book is called "Meet Me In The Badlands: Exploring Central Oregon with Jim Witty" and a copy is in the cache for viewing.

In addition, Mark Quon wrote a song called "Song For The Badland" which was included in a documentary tribute to Jim and the land he loved. It can be viewed at http://vimeo.com/4247829.
