Geocache Description:

The Purton Plod is a series of caches starting in the village of Purton.

Your plod will take you along the canal bank, past (or through) the Ships Graveyard and onwards to Sharpness Docks.  You will follow the route of the old railway, past a rare breeds centre and the opportunity for refreshments at a local public house at about half way. Your return journey will take you across fields with fine views of the River Severn and beyond.

There is some walking along quiet roads, possibly muddy patches and a variety of views that include modern and historical industry

The Plod is about 6.5 miles long with a few gentle inclines and you are looking for caches of various shapes and sizes.

There are some other caches along the route and I would recommend my 'Bridges, Boats and Butty's' cache as it fits well with this circuit.

Public transport is available to Purton from Gloucester or Dursley or you could park by the canal at 51 44.135 002 26.853.
