Geocache Description:

This cache is hidden in the Modderfontein Nature Reserve, where over 250 bird species have been recorded. One of these is the Crimson-Breasted Shrike. If you are lucky (and very quiet) you may spot one on your visit.


The following information will help you to get to the cache area:

  • Follow Centenary Road to the main entrance of the reserve.
  • Thereafter, an entranace fee of R30 per adult and R15 per child is payable.
  • After paying the entrance fee, take the first right onto a gravel/dirt road.
  • Follow this road until you reach the parking area marked "Parking 1" (Listed in the additional waypoints).
  • You can park here and continue on foot to the cache.

Please note: The cache should be easy to spot, getting the actual cache may require some thinking. You do not have to bring any tools. Everything required is provided at the cache. Please replace everything as you found it.

Permission has been granted to place this cache in the reserve. Remember that this is a nature reserve, so please adhere to the reserve rules at all times.

The reserve is open Monday to Sunday from 6am to 6pm. Please ensure that you arrive early enough to leave before the reserve closes.
