BYOB # 1.1 Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

roymerc: I made this little electro-mechanical gizmo in 2009. Since then it has served us well in two locations. It has had I think only two major overhauls in those 15 years, but wear and tear are catching up. Also the notice board which has hosted it for the last 11 years looks like it is overdue for repair itself. So the time has come to retire this loyal servant. Maybe it might pop up somewhere else some other time in some other guise…

Geocache Description:

Yet another 'Bring Your Own Battery' electro-mechanical cache where you supply the power — ie A 9 Volt Battery.

This is a cache with a bit of history. Chronologically it should be number ten in the series, but this is the original 'Bring Your Own Battery #1' cache-box that was placed on the nearby bridge in November 2009. When the bridge was extensively renovated this year (2013) I replaced the cache with an updated but similar version which better matched the new construction. When Noel, the manager of the Rivermouth Caravan Park let it be known that he would be happy to host a cache here, it seemed to be an ideal place to recycle this old but othewise perfectly functional box.

So here it is, in the often muggle infested public car park, spruced up with a new paint job and ready for another four years of service. Or more! It's not hiding; even though it is painted to match its surroundings it is blatantly conspicuous! All you need to do is stealthily apply your 9 volt battery (positive up) to the obvious terminals — and be amazed!
