Geocache Description:

Small screw-top plastic container...good for trackables and swag.

I discovered this trail back in March while hunting zanna's "Georgia Rivers" series. At the time, the trail ended at Bouldercrest Road, but obviously there were plans to extend it. Recently my son and I were here riding bikes and I noticed they had completed additional work, so I came back and put down a few more caches along the trail. Coordinates may be a little loose here with all the tree cover, but it should be a fairly simple find...with a little surprise.

The newest addition to the South River Trail in southeast Atlanta runs between the underpass at Bouldercrest Road and the Atlanta RC Club field off Constitution Road.  This stretch of the trail passes through a scenic wooded area.  I cannot find much reliable information about the plans for the trail system, but it is my understanding that it will eventually connect on the west side to The Atlanta Beltline and Constitution Lakes Trail off Moreland and to the Arabia Mountain Preserve and Monastery of the Holy Spirit to the east.

The PATH Foundation, in partnership with DeKalb County, Rockdale County, and the Arabia Mountain Heritage Alliance has developed an extraordinary trail system through 7000 acres of greenspace southeast of Atlanta. The Arabia Mountain/South River Trail network meanders through football field sized rock outcroppings, colorful fields of wildflowers, rushing streams, and towering pines as it makes its way from the Mall at Stonecrest into Panola Mountain State Park and beyond.
