If you look westward from the pulloff for this cache, you will see the old railroad bed remaining from the days when the C & O railroad ran right through here and went under US 60 to the east. This required a concrete bridge on US 60 with the railroad below. Internet info indicates the rails were abandoned in 1985, and the tracks were removed in 2001. Sometime after that, the US 60 bridge was removed and the gap for the railroad was filled in. So, just imagine that train running through here while you grab this cache...the Ghost Train!
So, just take a moment to imagine that train once again. The rails were abandoned around 1985, and removed around 2001 from what I have read on the internet.
