I Sverige finns fortfarande omkring 600 valvbroar byggda i natursten. Ponte Vecchio är Europas äldsta segmentvalvbro och gamla Årstabron i Stockholm var under många år Sverige längsta. Norrbro i Stockholm är stadens äldsta, bron ritades av Erik Palmstedt och invigdes 1807.
