IT'S ON AGAIN!!
Hope you can attend our 11-12-13 Cachers’ Christmas Meet & Greet event – a great opportunity to put faces to the names you regularly see on random pieces of paper! [TheGeoStevens] and reconnect with cachers that you’ve already met.
Last year we hosted a 12-12-12 Cachers’ Christmas Meet & Greet at Dee Why Beach and it was so much fun that we decided to plan a similar event this year! Since it’s a busy time of year, we thought we’d list it early so you can mark your calendars now!
THE DETAILS:
Time: 5:00pm til 8:00pm - or as late as people stay! We’ll likely arrive before 5:00.
Date: Wednesday 11/12/13 – the last consecutive number date in most of our life times!
Place: Manly Gas Works – at the listed coordinates
What: Meeting, Greeting & Eating, Christmas Caching Swap (details below) - and a few other fun activities!
Parking: Free parking is available on Stuart Street and there is a free car park (see additional waypoints)
Public Transport: Catch a ferry or bus to Manly Wharf. The event is about a 1km walk (uphill) from there.
CHRISTMAS CACHING SWAP:
As Christmas is coming up soon, we will be having a Christmas Caching Swap. If you wish to take part in this, please bring a wrapped gift that is related to Geocaching. At the event we will number each present and pick the numbers out of a hat.
Gift Ideas:
- a travel bug or tag (if so, please attach something to it to make it unique!)
- a geocoin
- a geocache container (camoed if you like!)
- anything else related to Geocaching that you think someone else would appreciate!
Please Note:
- The value should be no more than about $10.
- No worthless plastic swag please!!
- You can bring as many swaps as you want - one for your caching group or one for every member of the group. You’ll receive as many swaps as you provide. (We’ve already planned our 4 swaps!)
WHAT YOU MAY WANT TO BRING:
- Wrapped Christmas Caching Swap(s).
- A plate of nibblies (sweet or savoury) to share with the group.
- If you want to have a meal, BYO dinner. There are BBQs available nearby for anyone who’s keen and plenty of take-away restaurants in Manly if you want to pick up something on the way.
- Picnic blanket and/or chairs - unfortunately there are no picnic tables where we're meeting.
- Suitable clothing for the weather – this could include swimwear, as Little Manly Beach is close by. And if you haven’t found it yet, you may want to take a dip to find Doctor Who – The Impossible Astronaut!
- Your GPS or phone – so you can find us and any caches in the area that you haven’t found yet.
- A pen/pencil for every member of your caching group
- Trackables for discovering and/or swapping.
RAINY DAY PLAN:
In case of inclement weather, we’ll post a note on the cache page. The event will NOT be cancelled. Instead, we’ll head to Madigan’s Bar and Grill at the Harbord Diggers Club, Evans Street, Freshwater. Coordinates for this location are included in the additional waypoints.
IMPORTANT
- Please post a Will Attend log if you wish to attend, saying how many people in your group will be attending. This is so we can reserve seats if we have to resort to the rainy day plan.
- When the event draws near, remember to drop any trackables into the Inventory. A reminder announcement will be made closer to the date.
This is a family-friendly event. We hope to see you there!
