One of the best places to fly your kite is Vanier Park. (Be careful of the parking enforcement- paid parking in the lot near by)
The cache is hidden near the flying grounds and a reach is required. Parking at the boat launch is pay parking and they watch cars like a hawk. Walk or cycle and avoid the parking fee. This park is home of the Pacific Rim Kite Festival in the summer. Often you will find kite flyers here including, world famous , Ray Bethal flying 3 kites simultaneously. There are many different types of kites you will see.
There are single line kites as well a stunt kites with two or four lines allowing more control over the kite. Stunt kites have wind ratings, from little wind 1-2 MPH through to strong winds. Sometimes you will see team flyers, flying as a group, with several kites flying patterns.
