The Moraine provides drinking water for over 300,000 people throughout Waterloo Region, and approximately 75% of its potable water, making this the largest area in North America dependent on ground-source drinking water. The Waterloo Moraine is currently not protected by provincial legislation although there is an active movement from citizens to see that this takes place.
The cache located on one of the highest points of the Moraine and offers a scenic view of Wilmot Line to the West and the housing development and valleys that are in this area. The container is a small snap lid case with camo tape.
Much has changed in the 10+ years since this cache was first hidden. Back then there was no housing whatsoever in the area and there was a stone fire pit where locals sometimes had bonfires. The pit is still there, but overgrown with vegetation.
