Returning to this area after many years evoked many teenage memories when as a group we roamed the surrounding area at will. The Decanter Rocks at the end of the headland to Decanter Bay always held a fascination viewed from many vantage spots as we roamed the hills across farmland mostly ignoring the roads.
The cache has been placed on public land in the bay area where there is a safe place to park and turn a vehicle. The road through the bay is some distance from the beach.
NB The nearby access road to the beach is through private property and is by permission only. Owner contact details are on a notice board at the turnoff.
The public road continues to Menzies Bay from here. A worthwhile trip if you have time to see more views of headlands.
Returning to Little Akaloa there is a worthy photo viewing spot of the Decanters at S43 39.773 E 172 59.359. The road is wide enough here to stop briefly. Please take care though. Terrain rating increased to reflect access road conditions.
The cache is a camo one litre sistema containing log and accessories
