Geocache Description:

Small Woods Woodland Trail

This short family friendly series is owned by Small Woods, who manage the buildings and woodland at the Green Wood Centre on a 99 year lease from Severn Gorge Countryside Trust.

The site is open for everyone to enjoy and we have recently opened a new permissive footpath to enable walkers to avoid the busy Coach Rd.

Please be aware that this a working site so children should be supervised and any warning signs observed.

You are welcome to use our car park during office hours and from 11am - 3pm at weekends, it may be locked at other times. Parking is also available at Dale End Car Park - N52°37′52.3100″ W002°29′49.6169″ (pay and display)

You can find out more about the work of Small Woods at www.smallwoods.org.uk

Thanks to Lady Wildgoose, Noziparkerz and Sir BFG for helping us set up these caches.

Heritage Trail No. 32.

Coalbrookdale Station.

Built in the 19th Century the Station closed to passenger traffic in 1962 and to freight in 1964. However, the line is still in use to supply wood pellets to the power station at Buildwas.

The station buildings are now used by Small Woods. The Telford Steam Railway has aspirations to take possession of the up track passing through the station as part of its southern extension. The station building at Longville (another station on the Wenlock, Craven Arms and Lightmoor Extension railway) was a similar but reduced version of that at Coalbookdale.
