The Medora Mining Co organized in 1848, operated till 1866, closed due to monetary issues. Sold to the Keweenaw Copper Co in 1899 and re-organized in 1905. A second shaft was started on the Medora lode in 1907. Low output caused operations to cease in september 1909. Reached 1700' in depth and 1800' in length.
I'm not sure what this building was. There appears to be the base of a smokestack, which would imply the boiler house. But the heavy foundation with the large bolts would indicate some sort of heavy equipment, possible the hoist. Maybe both in one building?
