Saturday, October 5th at 6:30PM at the Russian River Campground in Cooper Landing!
End summer in SouthCentral with a fun-filled weekend cleaning and camping trip starting in Girdwood and running down to the Russian River! This is the second running of a Hobo CITO series that was devised, developed, and planned in the GeocacheAlaska! forums last winter. The spring session was a great success, so we're going to end up the season by squeezing in one more frenzy of cleaning in between the tourist season and the rapidly approaching snow season. Let's get rid of some of that junk before it gets covered up for the winter!
Bring your tent (or RV) and sleeping bags for an evening campfire social. We'll roast s'mores and hot dogs over the campfire while sharing your scary caching stories and resting from the long day of CITO events. Official event start will be 6:30PM though the Hobo Crew should be on site well ahead of that and we expect the campfire talk to linger late into the evening. Bring some snacks and beverages (adult beverages are OK, but bring your own and consume responsibly!) Winter is fast approaching, so make sure you bring proper cold weather clothing and an extra blanket or two for that sleeping bag!
On Sunday morning, we'll have a community breakfast event at the same site and then dig in to clean up the Russian River Campground. An informal meeting for a late lunch/early dinner in Cooper Landing will follow. Listing Note: Final coordinates for the exact camping site is still pending. Published coords will be adjusted and an announcement made when the final site within the campground is known.
