Felsplatte Pfossental
Die Texelgruppe ist eine Gebirgsgruppe der Ötztaler Alpen in Südtirol. Sie ist vollständig im Naturpark Texelgruppe unter Schutz gestellt.
Im Süden wird die Gruppe vom Vinschgau mit dem Etschtal, im Osten vom Passeiertal und im Westen vom Schnalstal begrenzt. Die Grenze zum nördlich gelegenen Schnalskamm bildet das Pfossental westlich des Eisjöchls. Nordöstlich davon scheidet das Pfelderer Tal die Texelgruppe vom Gurgler Kamm. Höchste Erhebung der Texelgruppe ist das Roteck mit 3337 Meter. Weitere Gipfel sind die Texelspitze (3318 m), die Hochweiße (3281 m), die Trübwand (3266 m), der Tschigat (2998 m) oder die Spronser Rötelspitze (2625 m).

Das Pfossental ist das größte Seitental des Schnalstals. Über Jahrtausende geprägt von Eis und Wasser, ausgehobelt vom Eis und tief eingeschnitten vom wilden Bach, die steilen Flanken zerfurcht, mit Gräben und Lawinenschneisen. Lichte Lärchenwälder an steilen Hängen.
Und der Talschluss ist gekrönt von der Hohen Wilde (3480 m).
Unterwegs hört man das Pfeiffen der Murmeltiere, sieht mit etwas Glück auch Falken und sogar Steinadler.
Gämsen und Steinböcke begleiten den Wanderer, der eine einmalige Geologische beschaffenheit zu Gesicht bekommt.
Auf unserer Wanderung durch das Traumhafte Pfossental kommen wir an dieser Felsplatte vorbei, die vom Eis vergangener Jahre glattgeschliffen wurde. Im Jahre 2000 wurde sie freigelegt, und zeigt die Macht der Natur. Bäche und Gletscher haben die Landschaft geformt. Wie sehr Geländegegebenheiten und Sonnenexposition für die Bildung von Gletschern ausschlaggebend sind, lässt sich am Ötztaler Hauptkamm zwischen Pfasser Spitze und Similaun erkennen. Die kleinen Eisfelder an der besonnten steilen Süd flanke sind vielfach nur Ausläufer der Vergletscherung an der flachen Nordabdachung. Viele Eis flächen sind in den letzten Jahrzehnten zu dürftigen Schneefeldern zusammengeschrumpft oder verschwunden. Dafür treten – so etwa im Talschluss von Ziel-, Pfossen- und Seebertal – kahle Moränenwälle, glatte Schliffrücken und vom Geschiebematerial im Eis „zerkratzte“ Findlinge zutage. Die zahlreichen Seen des Naturparks verdanken ihr Entstehen durchwegs den Gletschern. Felsbecken wurden ausgeschürft und Kare durch wasserstauende Moränen abgeriegelt. Die Bäche haben tiefe Täler in die Bergstöcke des Ötztal-Kristallins und der Texelgruppe gefräst und dabei interessante Strukturen und Gesteine freigelegt. Zahlreiche Wasserfälle und Schluchten zeugen von ihrer Tätigkeit.
