Geocache Description:

This event is to see how much crazy you have in you as a geocacher.

This crazy group got together last year. Will we get more than 14 logged geocachers this year?
This crazy group got together last year. Will we get more than 14 logged geocachers this year?

Boy, a lot of difference a year makes, eh?

So it is one year later from the original Attention Shoppers event. And it turns out I'm not as much of a night owl as I once was. Well, I kind of am, but I don't like driving at night as much.

Especially not in the wee morning hours.

So how about we dial this back a few hours? You don't mind? Good to hear. Hopefully that will give people the time to cache during the day/evening, grab something to eat, maybe even catch a movie and stop over for an event.

And hey, while here, run around an aisle or two?

Anyway, much like last time, this is a no-frill meet-and-greet event. No food, no games -- just meet, chat and know how crazy you are for showing up at an event this late.

So how crazy are you?

Let's look back at last year's description. Does it still fit you?  Think of all the things you've done as a geocacher. Think of how you react to things. Just, well, think.

Have you ever forsaken something you were working on to fly out the door for an FTF?

How many times have you said "just one more" as it starts to get dark and then cache for several hours more?

Do you get the cold sweats if you go a week or two without a cache?

Have you found yourself wandering around in the woods way after midnight searching for a cache?

If any of these are you, then you might enjoy this event.

This event is part study and, well, part event. I want to know how many people will show up. Will it be more than last year because it's no longer a 1 a.m. event? Let's find out. It's a 1/1 event. It's a simple meet-and-greet. Alas, it's still not simple for those who go to bed early.

Why?

It's at 11:30 p.m.

This is not, in any way, kid friendly. If you like to sleep before 10 p.m. or something, this isn't for you.

But, if you're a cacher looking for a fix, then this might just work for you.

On the bright side of things, this event is on a Saturday night. So if you're out and about already, just stay up a tad longer and stop over.

Last year, 14 nut jobs logged this event, coming from all over. Will we top that now that we've made it slightly earlier? Will some of those who made it last year NOT come this year because they realized how nutty this was? Only time will tell.

You know you want to do it. So why not? That nice, warm bed will be calling.

The real question, though, is can you resist?

A study in geocaching nature is what this is all about. I encourage notes from people who won't be coming, too, as I'd love to hear the reasons you won't be coming.

Note: This is a normal meet-and-greet. No frills, no nothing. I'll be there, at a minimum, from 11:30-midnight. Possibly a little longer, depending on who shows. But this event will run for a minimum of 30 minutes.
