Date: October 19th, 2013
Location: Blackhawk Culring Club (In the Rock County Fairgrounds) Come into the fairgrounds off of Craig Ave.
Time: 11:00am - 1:00pm
Who should come?: Everybody! This sport is something that can be enjoyed together as a family at any age. The Blackhawk Curling club has regular members in their 70's and our Saturday morning Junior Rockers (run by my wife and I) have gone as young as 5 or 6.
What to Bring: If you want to give curling a shot, wear loose fitting pants and bring a clean pair of tennis shoes (wear different shoes and carry in your clean ones)
This event coincides with the clubs annual open house that will be running from 12:00pm- 4:00pm, so if you can't make the 11-1 time don't worry about it...we'll keep the log book open for you! The first hour of this event is before the open house so it will be just geocachers and club members there to help show you the sport. We will have munchies and drinks whether you want to try out the sport or just hang out with caching friends and meet other curling cachers.
For more background information on the sport you can check out a variety of websites or you can take the Geocachers curling lesson provided in cache GC2Q75T down near the Wisconsin & Illinois stateline. If you want to hear how last year's inaugural event went check out GC3W09P.
Other than a pair of clean shoes all you need to bring is an open mind and a willingness to learn something new (both strong Geocaching traits!). Might want to bring a sweatshirt and some gloves if you don't like the cold....we do play on ice you know! I'll be there in shorts and my Evil Scotsman hockey jersey to welcome you in along with Jettpickett, Curl The Hawk, Dingoagogo and other geocaching curlers!
The Difficulty of 3 is because our sport isn't as easy as it looks!
