80 years of D10 Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Beeston Nutter: Unfortunately, the cache seems to have gone AWOL. Will archive it - however there may be a reincarnation at some point in the future when the new road/enterprise zone is complete!

Geocache Description:

A short walk to view the D10 building from the adjacent public footpath.

YOU CANNOT ACCESS THE CACHE FROM THE SITE - PLEASE USE THE FOOTPATH!!

D10 is a grade I listed building that was officially opened on 27th July 1933. The building was designed by Owen Williams and is builtalmost entirely from concrete and glass and there are also no external walls - only slender steel bars supporting the windows.

The factory is also known as the 'Wets' building as liquid/cream products for a well - known Nottingham business are made here.

A railway line used to run through the centre of the factory enabling delivery of raw materials and for finished products to be taken away and the engine was called 'Puffing Billy'

Five years after opening, the factory was so efficient that a five-day working week was introduced, with no cut in pay.
