Now in its fourth year, Tri-State Trick-or-Treat is moving on up - way up!
Join the Tri-State Geocachers for the fourth edition of Tri-State Trick-or-Treat, as for the first time it's being held at beautiful High Point State Park! We'll be holding the event on Sunday, October 20 at 1pm until about 3:00pm. High Point boasts some incredible scenery, much of which even the typical tourist probably has never seen. Its many miles of varied hiking trails bring you to fantastic views of lovely lakes, magnificent meadows, and memorable mountain vistas. And of course there are many existing geocaches too! And now this year it brings you the Halloween event that brings out the kid in all of us.
We'll gather at the posted coordinates near the beach at Lake Marcia in High Point, rain or shine, and the event will begin at 1pm sharp - please plan on arriving early. It's strongly recommended (not required, but it's certainly in the spirit of the day) that you come in costume. Prizes will be awarded for various categories, including dressing to represent your geocaching name! You should also provide your own trick-or-treat bag. We’ll do photo shoots and a group photo and then start the day’s activity. You’ll receive coordinates for a set of temporary caches, many with easy terrain and some with more challenging terrain. The caches represent your trick-or-treat destinations: each one is filled with a certain treat, so you'll be using your Halloween bags to gather your stash. A few of them will have a little surprise involved too. Caching with dogs? They're welcome to trick-or-treat right along with you, so long as they're kept on a leash.
And while you're here, "Treat" yourself to the opportunity to enter one of the Tri-State area's most significant, symbolic structures: the magnificent Tri-State Monument. Attendees can go inside the monument for just $1 for people over 12 years of age. This is the last time this season that the monument will be opened!
Please help us in planning by posting your Will-Attend log as far in advance as possible and telling us the number in your party.

Then at the end of the designated time for trick-or-treating, we'll re-gather at the coordinates you'll be given and the prizes will be awarded for the best costumes.
Are you new to geocaching or geo-events? This is an excellent time to come and join the fun - there are many folks ready to help you along even if you don't have your own GPS unit. Do you have a friend who is thinking of trying out geocaching? This is an excellent time to invite them, as there will be plenty of opportunity to interact with other cachers and experience geocaching first-hand in a beautiful location while finding caches around a great park.
There is no fee to get involved with Tri-State Trick-or-Treat. Just bring yourself, your most fun, adventurous attitude, and get ready for Halloween done geo-style! (Doggies are invited too, so long as they are kept on a leash.)
